Your Body Will Love An Avocado Skin Mask: 3 Recipes For Better Skin

Here at AvoSeedo, we want to explore all of the benefits of growing your own avocados. While delicious to eat, avocados have a variety of other benefits and uses. The vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients in avocados make them healthy to eat, but also cosmetically when used on our skin and hair. In this article, we will discuss the benefits of using avocado as an ingredient in 3 different do-it-yourself avocado skin masks.

Benefits of An Avocado Mask

Here are some of the benefits of using a skin mask with avocado as an ingredient:

  • A skin mask you make yourself, at home, with avocado is free of chemicals and synthetic ingredients. These potentially harmful components make them less likely to irritate your skin or cause an allergic reaction than store-bought products.
  • Avocado skin masks can reach the inner layers of the skin, adding elasticity to dry skin. This can even help slow down the aging process.
  • Skin masks made at home are cheaper than their store-bought counterparts, made from ingredients you likely already have in your home.
  • Skin masks with avocado are great for those with acne-prone or dry skin.

Avocado Mask Recipes

We’ve already discussed one DIY honey avocado skin mask here

Honey Avocado Mask

Honey is known for having anti-aging and antibacterial properties. The antibacterial properties can help kill acne-causing bacteria. Honey also has organic acid in it, called gluconic acid, that helps remove dead skin cells, leading to brighter, healthier skin.

Take 1 ripe avocado, removing the skin and the pit. Mash the avocado in a bowl, then add 1 tablespoon of honey. Stir the mixture until it’s well blended. Apply the paste to your skin and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry with a soft towel.

Oatmeal Avocado Skin Mask

Oatmeal is a natural skin cleanser due to its saponin content. It is rich in proteins and lipids that make it a great moisturizer. Rich in antioxidant properties, oatmeal can help undo the damage caused by pollution, chemicals, and the sun. Oats can also help reduce itching and inflammation, common problems with skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

Take ½ ripe avocado and ½ cup of oatmeal. Cook the oatmeal per the instructions on the label. Remove the skin and pit from the avocado and mash it well. Mix the avocado and the oatmeal until well blended. Apply the paste to your skin and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes, until it dries. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and pat dry your skin with a soft towel.

Yogurt Avocado Skin Mask

Yogurt contains lactic acid that kills bacteria. This acidic property can also help restore your skin’s pH balance.

Take ¼ of a ripe avocado, remove the skin and pit, and mash it up in a bowl. Mix in 1 teaspoon of plain, organic yogurt and ½ teaspoon of honey. Stir well until blended. Apply the mask to your skin for 10 to 15 minutes or until the mixture dries. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry with a towel.
